| Area | What to do | Impact |
|---|---|---|
| Category pages | Name and describe them in buyer search words | Highest: most wholesale searches land here |
| Product pages | Specs, MOQ, unique description, good photos | High |
| Technical | Speed, mobile, sitemap, canonical URLs | High: blocks everything else if broken |
| Structured data | Product, Organization, Breadcrumb, FAQ | Medium: richer results |
| Local | Google Business Profile, directory listings | Medium to high for city searches |
| Content | Buying guides and FAQs | Builds trust and AI citations over time |
1. Build category pages around how buyers search
Wholesale buyers rarely search for a single design. They search for a type, a fabric and often a city: "wholesale cotton kurtis", "georgette saree catalogue Surat", "denim fabric supplier Ahmedabad". Those searches should land on category pages, not the home page.
- Name categories in buyer language: "Wholesale Georgette Sarees", not "Collection 7".
- Add 100 to 200 words of useful text at the top: fabrics, MOQ, price range, dispatch time.
- Use a clean URL such as
/wholesale-georgette-sarees. - Link related categories to each other (sarees ↔ blouse pieces, kurtis ↔ dupattas).
2. Make product pages worth ranking
Thousands of Surat sellers upload the same catalogue photos with the same one-line text. Google has no reason to rank copies. Stand out with facts:
- Fabric, work, length or size, pieces per set, colours, wash care.
- MOQ, dispatch time and payment terms, written plainly.
- A title with type + fabric + key detail: "Georgette Saree with Zari Border, Set of 8".
- Descriptive image file names and alt text, and compressed images (WebP) so pages load fast.
3. Fix the technical basics
None of the content work counts if Google can't crawl the site properly. Check that:
- Every page has one canonical URL; filtered and sorted views don't create duplicates.
- The site loads fast on a mid-range phone on mobile data.
- An XML sitemap lists categories, products and blog posts, and is submitted in Search Console.
- HTTP redirects to HTTPS in one step, with no redirect loops.
- Old URLs redirect (301) after any redesign or platform move.
4. Add structured data
Product structured data lets Google show price, availability and more in search results. Google treats pages where people can buy as merchant listings and pages without direct purchase as product snippets. Add Organization and BreadcrumbList on every page, and FAQPage where you answer real questions. For login-to-see-price stores, mark up only the prices a guest can actually see.
5. Win local searches
Many buyers search with a city or market name. Create a Google Business Profile with your market, shop number and photos, and keep the name, address and phone identical everywhere. List your business on the BizTorq Textile Directory, which organises sellers by city, market and product.
6. Get cited by ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI
Google's own guidance says there are no additional requirements to appear in AI Overviews or AI Mode: a page needs to be indexed and eligible for a snippet. In practice, AI tools quote pages that state facts clearly. Put MOQ, dispatch time, GST and payment terms in plain sentences, answer common questions in an FAQ, and keep your business details consistent across the web.
7. Measure what matters
In Google Search Console, track impressions and clicks by category page each month. In analytics, track enquiries and orders by landing page, plus visits from chatgpt.com, perplexity.ai and gemini.google.com. Rankings without enquiries are not the goal.

Frequently asked questions
How long does SEO take for a textile website?
Technical fixes can show results within weeks of Google recrawling the site. Category rankings for competitive terms usually build over several months of steady work.
Do I need special optimisation for Google AI Overviews?
No. Google states there are no additional requirements beyond being indexed and eligible for a snippet. Clear facts, FAQs and good normal SEO are what get pages quoted.
Can a login-to-see-price store still rank on Google?
Yes. Category and product pages stay public with photos, specs and MOQ; only the rate is hidden. Those public details are what rank.
Should I copy product descriptions from the manufacturer?
Avoid it. Many sellers use the same text, so Google has little reason to rank yours. Add your own specs, MOQ, use cases and dispatch details.
Is a blog necessary for an eCommerce site?
Not for every store, but buying guides and FAQs help you rank for questions buyers ask before they are ready to order, and give AI tools clear text to cite.
