Free OpenCart Store Audit

Quick answer: Enter your store URL and this free tool checks your homepage for about 30 issues across security, speed, SEO, mobile, AI search readiness and OpenCart setup, then gives a score out of 100 with a plain-language fix for each problem. It takes about 20 seconds and works on any eCommerce site.

Checks your homepage like a single visitor — about 8 requests, nothing is changed.

What the free OpenCart audit checks

Every check is explained in the report with a plain-language fix. OpenCart-specific checks run only when your store is built on OpenCart.

AreaWhat we checkWhy it matters
Security & trust HTTPS, HTTP→HTTPS redirect and SSL expiry Browsers and payment gateways need a valid certificate; an expired one blocks your store.
Security & trust OpenCart /install/ folder left online A forgotten installer lets anyone reinstall or damage the store.
Security & trust Admin panel at the default /admin/ path Bots try the default address first for password guessing.
Security & trust PHP and jQuery versions Old PHP and jQuery versions have known security holes.
Speed Server response time, compression and redirects Slow first bytes and uncompressed pages lose mobile buyers.
Speed Page weight, number of files and lazy-loaded images Heavy homepages from too many modules slow the first view.
Speed Google PageSpeed mobile score and Core Web Vitals Google uses page experience as a ranking signal.
SEO Title, meta description, H1 and canonical tag The basics Google reads first on every page.
SEO SEO-friendly URLs in OpenCart Keyword URLs rank better than index.php?route=product/product&product_id=42.
SEO robots.txt, XML sitemap and noindex tags Decide whether Google can find and index your products at all.
SEO Structured data, social preview and image alt text Richer search results and better WhatsApp link previews.
Mobile & conversion Mobile viewport, WhatsApp button and tap-to-call Most Indian buyers browse on phones and ask on WhatsApp first.
AI search (GEO) AI crawler access and llms.txt Whether ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Claude can read and recommend your store.
Platform Platform and OpenCart version family OpenCart 2.x is end of life; 3.x stores should plan the move to 4.

The 10 most common OpenCart problems we find

  1. SEO URLs switched off, so products show as index.php?route=product/product&product_id=42.
  2. No XML sitemap, so new designs take weeks to appear in Google.
  3. Old OpenCart 2.x or 3.x on an old PHP version that no longer gets security updates.
  4. The /install/ folder left on the server after setup.
  5. Slow server response from too many extensions and no caching.
  6. Compression off, so pages download 3–5 times slower on mobile data.
  7. Theme logo inside an H1, giving every page the same main heading.
  8. No social preview image, so links shared on WhatsApp look broken.
  9. Product images without alt text, so they never rank in Google Images.
  10. AI crawlers blocked in robots.txt, so ChatGPT and Perplexity cannot recommend the store.

How the score works

Each check is weighted by how much it affects sales and rankings — for example, a homepage blocked from Google or a missing SSL certificate counts far more than a missing llms.txt file. A pass earns the full weight, a warning half, and a problem nothing. Grades: A (90+), B (75–89), C (60–74), D (45–59), F (below 45). The Google PageSpeed mobile score is shown separately and does not change the audit score.

Frequently asked questions

What does the free OpenCart store audit check?

It checks your homepage for about 30 things in six groups: security (HTTPS, SSL expiry, installer folder, admin path, PHP and jQuery versions), speed (server response, compression, page weight, redirects, Google PageSpeed mobile score), SEO (title, description, H1, canonical, SEO URLs, sitemap, robots.txt, schema, alt text), mobile and conversion (viewport, WhatsApp and tap-to-call), AI search (AI crawler access, llms.txt) and your OpenCart version family.

Is the audit really free? Do I need to sign up?

Yes, it is free and you see the full report without signing up. If you want a fix plan, you can leave your number and we will send one within one working day.

Does it work for Shopify, WooCommerce or other platforms?

Yes. The security, speed, SEO, mobile and AI checks work on any website. The OpenCart checks (installer folder, admin path, SEO URLs, version) run only when the store is built on OpenCart.

How is the score calculated?

Each check has a weight based on how much it affects sales and rankings. A pass earns the full weight, a warning earns half and a problem earns nothing. The score is the share of points earned out of 100: A is 90 or more, B 75–89, C 60–74, D 45–59 and F below 45.

Why does it only check my homepage?

The homepage shows most site-wide problems (security, speed, SEO setup, platform) in about 20 seconds. Product and category pages need a deeper manual audit, which BizTorq does as part of a fix plan.

Will the audit slow down or affect my store?

No. It loads your homepage and a few public files (robots.txt, sitemap, llms.txt and, for OpenCart, the default install and admin addresses) — about eight requests, like a single visitor. It never logs in or changes anything.

How do I find my exact OpenCart version?

Log in to your OpenCart admin; the exact version is shown at the bottom of the dashboard. The audit can only see the version family (2.x/3.x or 4.x) from public theme files.

Who can fix the problems the audit finds?

Most fixes take a few hours to a few days for an OpenCart developer. BizTorq, an OpenCart company in Surat, offers security hardening, speed optimisation, SEO fixes, OpenCart 4 upgrades and maintenance plans for stores across India.
