Why Surat wholesalers are moving online now
Surat makes roughly 40% of India's man-made fabric, and almost all of it is sold inside India. That trade still runs on visits to Ring Road shops, agents, PDF catalogues and WhatsApp groups. It works, but it caps growth at the number of buyers who can physically reach your shop or your agent's phone.
A website changes three things. Retailers in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Bengal and the South can browse your full range at any hour. Repeat buyers reorder without a call. And new buyers searching "wholesale sarees Surat" on Google, or asking ChatGPT for suppliers, can find you instead of a marketplace listing.
Step 1: Digitise your catalogue properly
Most Surat businesses already have product photos in WhatsApp catalogues or PDFs. Online, each design needs its own product page with:
- Clear photos: front, drape or pallu, a close-up of the work, and the full set if you sell by catalogue.
- Fabric, work type, length (saree 5.5 m + blouse; dress material top, bottom and dupatta) and wash care.
- Catalogue number, design number and the number of pieces per set.
Start with your 100 to 250 best-moving designs. A complete small catalogue sells better than a half-loaded big one.
Step 2: Choose your selling model
| Model | Best for | Buyer experience |
|---|---|---|
| Catalogue website | Wholesalers who negotiate every order | Browse, then enquire or WhatsApp |
| B2B wholesale store | Traders with fixed rate lists and repeat retailers | Approved buyers see their price and order |
| Full commerce (B2B + B2C) | Manufacturers and brands also selling to consumers | Wholesale login plus a retail store with online payment |
Most Surat clients start with a catalogue website and add B2B ordering once buyers are using it. Build stage one so that stage two doesn't need a rebuild.
Step 3: Set your wholesale rules
This is where a textile website differs from an ordinary online shop:
- MOQ per product or per catalogue, for example "minimum 1 set of 8 pieces".
- Buyer-wise pricing: dealer, retailer and walk-in rates, each shown only to the right group.
- Login-to-see-price if you don't want competitors reading your rate list.
- Bulk order sheet so a retailer can add 20 designs in one go.

Step 4: Connect WhatsApp, payments and transport
Your buyers already live on WhatsApp, so keep it. Each product gets a WhatsApp button that sends the design number to your sales number. Orders can still be confirmed on WhatsApp while the website keeps the record.
B2B buyers often pay by bank transfer or on credit, so offer both a payment gateway (UPI, cards) and "pay by bank / on account" for approved buyers. For delivery, show transport and courier options, since many retailers book their own transport from Surat.
Step 5: Get found on Google and AI search
A website nobody finds is just a digital brochure. The basics that work:
- Category pages named the way buyers search: "Wholesale Georgette Sarees", "Dress Material Catalogue".
- A Google Business Profile with your market name and shop number.
- A listing on the BizTorq Textile Directory, which connects buyers to sellers by market, area and product.
- Clear facts on every page (MOQ, dispatch time, GST, payment terms), because AI tools quote pages that state facts plainly.
What it costs and how long it takes
At BizTorq, a catalogue website starts at ₹35,000 (3–4 weeks), a B2B wholesale store at ₹75,000 (5–8 weeks) and full B2B + B2C commerce at ₹1,45,000 (8–12 weeks), excluding taxes, hosting and domain. We take no commission on your orders. See pricing for what each stage includes.
Example from our work
We built wholesalecatalogz.com on OpenCart as a wholesale textile store with its own product cards, checkout flow and textile directory. Browse our case studies or open the demo store to see what a wholesale buyer sees.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a website if I already sell on IndiaMART or Meesho?
Marketplaces bring enquiries but own the buyer relationship and compare you with every other seller on the same page. Your own website keeps your buyers, your prices and your data, and it ranks in Google under your own name.
Can I show prices only to wholesale buyers?
Yes. Buyers register, you approve them, and only approved accounts see wholesale rates. Everyone else sees "login to see price" or an enquiry button.
Will the website work with my WhatsApp orders?
Yes. Every product can carry a WhatsApp button with its design number, and orders placed on the website can notify you on WhatsApp.
How many products should I upload at launch?
Start with 100 to 250 of your best designs, fully photographed and described. Add new catalogues every week after launch.
Can I sell to buyers outside India?
Yes. The store can show prices in other currencies and take export enquiries, with shipping and payment set up for overseas buyers.
Ready to plan your store?
Tell us how many designs you have and how you price them, and we'll reply with a fixed quote.
