3.2 Information collected automatically
When you visit our websites we and our service providers may automatically record your IP address, browser and device type, operating system, referring page, pages viewed, date and time of visit, approximate location (city / country level) and similar technical data. This is collected through server logs, cookies and analytics tools (see Section 9).
3.3 Information from other sources
Some directory listings may be compiled from information that businesses have themselves made publicly available, such as business signage, public business profiles, trade listings and websites. See Section 6 for how listed businesses can correct or remove these.
We do not ask for, and request that you do not send us, sensitive information such as health data, religious beliefs, Aadhaar numbers, or bank card numbers through our forms.
4. How we use your information
- To reply to your enquiry, call you back or message you on WhatsApp about your project;
- To understand your requirements and prepare recommendations, estimates, quotations and proposals;
- To design, build, launch, host-configure, maintain and support your eCommerce website;
- To issue GST invoices, collect payments and keep accounting and tax records;
- To publish, verify and manage business listings on the textile directory;
- To deliver the results of our free tools (estimates, audit reports, recommendations);
- To send service updates related to your project, listing or enquiry;
- To send occasional updates about our services, where you have agreed to receive them;
- To improve our websites, content, tools and services, and understand how visitors use them;
- To keep our websites secure and prevent spam, fraud and misuse; and
- To comply with the law and respond to lawful requests from authorities.
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information to anyone.
5. Consent and legal basis
We process your personal data on the basis of:
- Your consent, which you give when you submit a form, list your business, or contact us. You may withdraw consent at any time by emailing us; withdrawal does not affect processing already done before you withdrew it.
- Legitimate uses permitted by law, including where you have voluntarily provided your data for a specific purpose (such as asking for a quote), performing a contract with you, and meeting legal, tax and accounting obligations.
6. Textile directory listings
The purpose of the directory on directory.biztorq.com is to help buyers in India and worldwide find textile businesses. Therefore:
- Business information in a listing (business name, address, market, phone, WhatsApp, email, website, products and images) is publicly visible and may be indexed by search engines and AI search tools.
- Only submit information you are authorised to publish. Do not submit personal information that you do not want displayed publicly.
- We may review, edit for format, verify, approve or reject listings.
- Business owners can ask us to correct, update or remove a listing at any time by writing to [email protected] with the listing link. We may ask for reasonable proof that you represent the business. We aim to act on verified requests within 7 working days.
- Information that has already been copied by search engines or third parties may take time to disappear from their results; that is outside our control.
7. Data in client stores we build
When we build or maintain an online store for a client, we may access the personal data of that client's own customers (such as names, addresses, phone numbers and order history) stored in the client's OpenCart store. In that situation:
- The client is the Data Fiduciary and is responsible for its own store's privacy policy; BizTorq acts as a Data Processor on the client's behalf.
- We access that data only as needed to build, migrate, test, fix, back up or support the store, and only on the client's instructions.
- We do not use it for our own purposes, contact those customers, or share it with anyone else.
- We keep it confidential and delete any working copies once they are no longer needed for the project or support work.
8. Who we share information with
We share personal information only where needed, and only with:
- Service providers who help us run our business, such as web hosting and server providers, content delivery and security services (for example Cloudflare), email and WhatsApp communication services, analytics providers, cloud storage and backup providers, and accounting software. They may only use the information to provide services to us.
- Third-party services for your project, such as your domain registrar, hosting company, payment gateway (for example Razorpay), shipping partner, or extension developers, where this is required to set up your store and you have asked us to do so.
- Professional advisers such as our chartered accountant, auditors or lawyers, under a duty of confidentiality.
- Government and law enforcement when required by law, court order or a lawful request, or to protect the rights, property or safety of BizTorq, our users or the public.
- A successor business if BizTorq is merged, acquired or restructured, in which case this policy will continue to protect your information.
Directory listing details are shared publicly by design, as explained in Section 6.
9. Cookies and analytics
Cookies are small text files stored on your device. We use:
- Essential cookies needed for the website to work, such as security, session and form-protection cookies, including those set by our security / CDN provider;
- Preference cookies to remember choices like a selected city or filter in the directory; and
- Analytics cookies, such as Google Analytics and similar tools, which help us understand how many people visit, which pages are useful and where visitors come from. These tools may collect your IP address and device information.
We do not use cookies to show you third-party advertising. You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings; parts of the website may not work properly if essential cookies are blocked. You can also opt out of Google Analytics using Google's browser add-on.
10. Storage and security
Your information is stored in secured databases and systems operated by BizTorq and our hosting providers. We use reasonable security practices, including:
- HTTPS (SSL/TLS) encryption on all our websites;
- access to stored enquiries and admin areas limited to authorised BizTorq team members with password-protected accounts;
- firewall, spam and bot protection on our forms;
- regular software updates and backups; and
- confidentiality obligations on team members and service providers.
Client account credentials (hosting, cPanel, payment gateway and similar) are used only for your project. We recommend that you change these passwords once your project or support period ends.
No method of storing or transmitting data over the internet is 100% secure. If we become aware of a personal data breach that affects you, we will inform you and the relevant authorities as required by law, and take steps to limit the impact.
11. How long we keep information
| Type of information | How long we keep it |
|---|---|
| Enquiries and tool submissions that did not become a project | Up to 3 years from our last contact, then deleted or anonymised |
| Client project files, communications and credentials | For the duration of the project and any support / maintenance period, then up to 1 year; credentials are deleted when no longer needed |
| Invoices, payment and tax records | As long as required by Indian tax and accounting laws (generally up to 8 years) |
| Directory listings | While the listing is active, or until the business asks for removal |
| Server logs and analytics data | Generally up to 26 months, or as set by the analytics provider |
We may keep information longer where the law requires it or where it is needed to resolve disputes or enforce our agreements.
12. Your rights
Subject to applicable law, including the DPDP Act, you have the right to:
- Access a summary of the personal data we hold about you and how we use it;
- Correct and update inaccurate or incomplete data;
- Erase your data when it is no longer needed for the purpose it was collected, unless we must keep it by law;
- Withdraw consent at any time;
- Nominate another person to exercise your rights in case of your death or incapacity;
- Raise a grievance with our Grievance Officer (see Section 18); and if you are not satisfied with our response, approach the Data Protection Board of India.
To exercise any of these rights, email [email protected] with the subject line "Privacy Request". We may need to verify your identity before acting on your request.
13. Marketing messages
We may send you occasional emails or WhatsApp messages about our services, new tools or useful eCommerce guides only if you have contacted us or agreed to receive them. You can opt out at any time by replying "STOP" on WhatsApp, using the unsubscribe link in an email, or writing to us. Opting out of marketing will not stop messages about an ongoing project, invoice or listing.
14. Children
Our websites and services are intended for businesses and adults. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18 years of age. If you believe a child has submitted information to us, please contact us and we will delete it.
15. International users and transfers
We are based in India, and our directory serves buyers worldwide. Your information may be stored or processed on servers located in India or other countries where our service providers operate (for example hosting, CDN, email or analytics providers). Where we transfer data outside India, we do so in line with the DPDP Act and any restrictions notified by the Government of India. By using our websites from outside India, you understand that your information will be processed under Indian law and this policy.
16. Third-party websites
Our websites link to other sites, such as client stores in our portfolio, directory listings' own websites, news sources, WhatsApp, Google reviews and social media pages. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those websites. Please read their privacy policies before sharing information with them.
17. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our services or the law. The "Last updated" date at the top shows when it was last changed. Significant changes will be highlighted on this page. Continued use of our websites after an update means you accept the revised policy.
